Notes from Kit:
There were lots of fun things to see and say at our Show & Tell:
Mary took a marbling/dyeing class. She marbelized blank silk scarves. They turned out beautifully!
The blanks can be bought at Dharma Trading online or you can purchase them locally at Wild Fiber, which is located at Santa Monica & 14th Street.
She took the class at Mayu Silk Art in Huntington Beach.
Mary suggested that we check out Garn Studio/Drops Designs because their sweaters have schematics.
David brought another slipper sock in a larger size. He originally used the pattern in Footnotes, that turned out to be the size of a child’s foot.
There was a discussion about Diana Sullivan’s videos.
David also made a gold bookmark.
Ruthie showed the Mandala that she made in her crochet class.
Ruthie demonstrated a mini shawl and gave us the pattern. It’s done like the jagged edge shawls she brought in May.
Kit showed a vintage Seam Maker that is missing part of the latch. This vintage linker has a machine knitting needle instead of a sewing needle. One cranks it to make the knitting needle go up and down.
The picture of “WD-40 Specialist” Silicone Lubricant is now being used on knitting machines. A picture of the can is in our workshop pictures.
